BLU DOT Furniture.

The beginning of a really fun company, the bringing together of three friends in 1997. College buddies John Christakos, Charles Lazor, and Maurice Blank fresh out of school each sharing a common passion for architecture, art and design.

It was the start of something, the need for quality furniture that wouldn’t break the budget, as the young men looked to furnish their new homes with styles and tastes to reflect their personalities.

“we didn’t like the stuff we could afford and we couldn’t afford the stuff we liked”. So with this in mind the three thought that other people must be in the same situation. Wanting great looking furniture at affordable prices.

Naive it might have been, however they went about trying to make a difference. They wanted to solve a problem that many of us are in providing beautiful contemporary furniture at an affordable price. It was was beginning of BLU DOT.

Blu Dot’s goal is to bring good design to as many people as possible. This desire to offer affordable furniture is the result of creating products that are useful and desirable. It is Blu Dots design process which is founded on collaboration that allows for such remarkable work . It is not just amongst the Blu Dot team as they play show-and-tell with concepts, but collaboration between paper and pencil, machines and materials , even assembly and packaging .

The design team at Blu Dot says that “the form is almost inevitable, a by-product of the process. Our job is simply to help it emerge as beautifully and as efficiently as possible.”
